Geology Without the Spectacle Trap

Volcano travel content often sells the glow and skips the context. We do the reverse: explain what you are looking at, how it formed and why it behaves as it does, and then point you to the people responsible for keeping you safe there.

Field note

What we do

Moxariventur is an independent publication by Moxariventur Field Media Ltd in Edinburgh, a city built around the eroded core of an ancient volcano. Our writers combine geology and earth-science backgrounds with trail and travel experience. We write for landscape travellers who would rather understand a lava field than simply photograph it.

Every page separates two kinds of information. Geological interpretation, which changes slowly and can be checked against scientific literature, observatory publications and the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program. And current conditions, which change constantly and which we deliberately leave to official observatories, park services and civil-protection agencies.

What we do not do

  • No live hazard assessments

We never state that a volcano or trail is safe today.

  • No sponsored rankings

We do not sell tours or accept payment for coverage.

  • No hazardous-surface imagery as invitation

Our photographs are close-ups taken from permitted locations, captioned with context.
